Jpegli, Google’s new jpeg.

It would be interesting to know if it is equivalent to webp or if it would perhaps be better or worse for web

And if it’s better, have an option in smush in the future for automatic conversion? :)

I’ve been using Smush for just over 6 months, and the features are really amazing! I had used several other plugins of the same type. And Smush Pro stands out for its ease of use: especially for CDN and webp conversion. It used to be quite complicated for me, with other plugins, to make sure that CDN and webp conversion were working. In the end, I never really had the answer… And now I can be sure that images are well served, well compressed and the dashboard is very clear. It’s a very good tool (the best, in fact).

WP Offload Media or any equivalent tool is not used in this project, but I am even writing it down here in case I ever need it. For now in this project the videos are played on YouTube, but if one day Youtube starts to restrict this type of use, it will definitely be necessary to use cloud file management. Thanks for sharing! :)

Hi Mark Su!
In this case, the images are actually archived in WordPress itself, but for each new H5P (which is an advanced teaching exercise), the plugin generates a new folder for each new exercise, including the images.

The one-click activation for various features, especially lazy loading and CDN integration, has significantly improved my site’s speed. Excited to explore more and see the impact on my WordPress journey!

Hi Navneet Saraf,
Having a scheduler as what Lucas mention is indeed a great idea. It will really remove and eliminate alot of manual work for web masters as we tend to forget to manage those folders regularly.

Hi Lucas, That is somewhat like offloading the images elsewhere, am I right to say that? I used WP Offload Media from https://deliciousbrains.com/wp-offload-media/ Should be a similar concept as you mention.

It is a plugin from deliciousbrains (quite a reputable company)

I can totally relate to you. I also used Smush as the CDN for all my clients websites as a default. Totally true as you mentioned about clients uploading big file size. Most either do not know how to resize or some doesnt know it exists!

Thats an exciting idea, thanks for sharing Lucas!

We’ve discussed having a scheduler earlier and will try bring it to the plugin as soon as we can.

Generally, we limit the size of the files they can upload so it isn’t an issue, but with monitors and screen sizes growing all the time, we have to prepare high quality images so they look good regardless of the type of monitor. Once in a while we need the original file to be big enough to cover the whole section, so being able to smush large files, then deliver via CDN and automatically resize to fit makes things so much easier on us developers.
Clients will also often upload blog images that are so much bigger than they need to be, so having these options is a big plus for us.
I also appreciate that we can set the configs once and load them up on any site with a single click so we don’t have to go through it again for every new site we create.
In the past, we’ve had some issues with files on the CDN not loading properly, but those have all been resolved by now for us.
WP Smush is an absolute must-have tool for our team. Thank you!
