Something that would also be incredible would be if these links were generated not only by exact word matches, but also by semantic associations, that is, phrases or words with the same or similar meaning to that configured to be indexed, also being used to generate the links

I’m circling back around to SmartCrawl’s auto-linking feature. There’s a few other alternatives like LinkWhisper but if I can use WPMUDev, I’d like to.

At the risk of sounding like I’m seeking disaster…is there a downside?

I appreciate the SEO and reading time benefits, I guess I’d be worried if I opt to turn the feature off in future and how that works?

Others may have mentioned this but excluding category types would be really helpful if this doesn’t yet exist…in my case, I have sponsored articles where copy is agreed so I can’t risk random links appearing in that category type.

Thank you for the suggestion, I see it is already on our to-do list, but we don’t have an ETA yet, however, I shared this comment as an extra vote there.

“This is a great start to a feature that can prove to be powerful. I’ve seen many other automatic internal linking plugins, and some of them do a really great job. I’d have to compare SmartCrawl’s offering to see if it competes with these other plugins.”

This could be a nice article as well.

I am afraid of exclusion it only has the option to exclude specific keywords, pages or posts, could you please create a ticket https://wpmudev.com/hub2/support and our team can verify if there is any available hook to include a category as well?

About the live site, unfortunately, we don’t have it as the linking also depends on the content. The best approach is to enable it on your Staging site to verify it as you would know which links are relevant and which ones are not, a sample site can only demonstrate the functionality but the relevance of the link depends on the entire context.

Internal links are always great for SEO, usually, Related posts are quite helpful for SEO however not really related to SEO plugins so we use external plugins, but if you feel it could fit well in our plugin feel free to create a feature request https://wpmudev.com/hub2/support#feature-request
