And studies show that if a website takes more than two seconds to load, visitors are more likely to abandon it and go elsewhere.

Google keeps changing their algo all the time.

It is the only WordPress Performance Optimization framework designed to boost user experience and improve page load times and it comes highly recommended by some of the top hosting providers in the industry including Page.ly, Flywheel, and SiteGround.

I use this since 2008

I have this exact problem!! We need WPMU to come up with a solution to fix this so it’s easier to set up Hummingbird. I score either 100 or nearly 100 on all aspects, apart from render blocking issues.

Hello Neal,

Personally, I found the performance suggestion easy to understand, however, to understand them fully, I agree with you that it requires a little more advanced knowledge of the WordPress.

Please feel free to post any question you have on the support forum, we’ll be glad to break it down and explain how it works.

Sorry to hear that a certain file minification “broke” a function of your site. Would you please create a new thread, so we could have a closer look at it?

I would also suggest to run the WP Super Cache along with the Hummingbird plugin to improve your site’s response time for logged out visitors and search engine bots.

Have a great day!

Thanks for the article!

I am new to WPMU Dev. I recently replaced WP Super Cache with Hummingbird, and all seems reasonably well as my performance score is 91.

I want to address an issue, which I have done before with here at WPMU Dev. I am not technically savvy, so what I say echoes thinkDelaney’s comment above (June 4). You state:

“The suggestions are written in clear and easy-to-understand language and includes a list of the specific files you need to edit, as well as the images you need to compress, so you can get started right away.”

Hah!

It should read, “The suggestions are written in clear and easy-to-understand language THAT ANY EXPERIENCED DEVELOPER WILL UNDERSTAND.”

This applies to other plugins.

Keep on keepin’ on!

NEAL

PS: Your support staff has been VERY accommodating in assisting me on various issues since I joined WPMU Dev. One of them even entered my site and took the time to set all the minification buttons for me. It did increase my score, but ‘broke’ one of my site’s functions.

I love it! :)

Hey Wiz,

For me it loads quite fast (in fact almost instantly), so I assumed it was due to the recent problem we had. However, I am in Europe.

I will pass your findings to our sysadmins!

Thank you for being an awesome member and keep it up :)

Hi Ivan,

As of right now – my home PC gives 13 second page load times. Pingdom shows 7 second page load times. Perhaps you are happy with that, but it just seems slow.

Note that running tests from the USA loads the pages in half the time (i can get it down to around 3 seconds). Given that cloudflare has an Australian cache server that confuses me.

In summary, Australian visitors take double the amount of time to get a page up compared to US visitors. Is that by design?

Just my 2 cents worth. Not trying to start anything here – I just like the art of reducing page load times :-) :-)

cheers, Wiz!!

Hey @wizdude,

We were having some issues with 3rd party services we use for loading content, but they should have been resolved by now.

I wish you an awesome day ahead!
