There are two ways of doing this. One is to enable email notifications under the Bulk Smush settings.
Where you enable email notifications.
Now you’ll know when Bulk Smush is done via email.

Also, you can click the Enable Notifications link on the notification during the Bulk Smush progress.

This great feature makes a difference!

Now you can navigate away from the plugin or close the browser window while Smush works tirelessly in the background.

This is good news!

Glad to know that at least they’re already thinking about including this.

Hi Phil

This is helpful in cases where you don’t wish to Smush on upload if you have a massive number of files being uploaded every day like a news portal or marketplace, depending on the number of thumbnails version the upload can increase some ms, so you don’t worry about Smushing the images on upload but still need them optimized.

Hi Phil,

I believe it is about Smushing on Schedule, the Smush on upload can for example make the upload process to some extra ms, so you can configure the plugin to run the Bulk Smus daily, this is something that is on our to do list but no ETA yet.

Patrick: I’m not sure why this would be needed anyways, since all it would avoid is the need to run a manual Bulk Smush after installing the plugin. Any new images that are uploaded are automatically smushed (if that setting is enabled), so what would be the purpose of scheduling it on a regular interval?

Hey @pavel ahammed, when you say “let other run in the background on a schedule” are you talking about other WPMU DEV plugins? If so do you have an examples of tasks you’d like to have automated or scheduled? Things like purging cache in Hummingbird can already be done on a regular interval, for example

Hi pavel ahammed & Dominique

I can see we do have this requested and shared with our developers, but I am afraid we don’t have an estimated time yet, we sent this comment as an extra request.

A workaround for that would be to configure a WP-CLI command to run in Cron as Smush has the smush compress command, I can see the developer suggested this as a possible wokaround.

Feel free to open a ticket if you need help with this.

Patrick Freitas
