It would also be great to have a button to do this cropping directly in the media pop up that opens when we choose an image in WordPress, being able to crop larger images to the size of smaller images with just one button.

Including custom size :)

I have started using images in standing portrait format (1080 wide x 1920 high) to make web stories.

You don’t know how this would help me and I would definitely recommend Smush in the web stories plugin group I use.

Image optimization is crucial for website performance, and Smush seems like an excellent tool for simplifying this process. I appreciate how it not only compresses images but also takes care of removing the original images, which can be a time-consuming task when done manually. The comparison charts and step-by-step instructions in the article make it easy to understand how Smush works and its benefits. I’m definitely going to give it a try on my WordPress site to boost its loading speed and overall user experience. Thanks for sharing this valuable information!

A question, for anyone who edits all images externally before uploading to their WordPress site, would Smush still help overall performance or wouldn’t it be as relevant?
