Hey Indigo, it’s true that the score had a good head start, thus the title of the post includes “From Impressive” :)
However, if you’re looking to get most out of your site performance these steps can help achieving that goal.

Hummingbird currently only support preloading Google Fonts but we’re also looking to add this for locally stored ones as well.

Astra is optimized pretty well out of the box. Giving the fact that you already had a nice score 88/94, it’s not super hard to improve it a little. My point is: in real life most of the users will have more complex sites, so this is a nice demonstration but not completely accurate. Great result though, I like the interface of the plugins.

One question: how does Hummingbird preload fonts? Is it similar to this:

Thank you! And from what I tested out, almost everything came out pretty well optimized with Astra. It would be fun to go in and test a lot more page builders, but I think the general concepts that I covered would be similar. I’m sure some may need a few tweaks with HB, but in general, Astra is on top of their optimization game and not much else needs to be done.

Hosting makes a world of difference with optimization! I like Elementor, but Gutenberg is definitely still popular (as you mention, you use it).

Great article, love the clean layout! easy to follow and a great learning experience for anyone that’s new. Although I don’t use Astra just yet, something that I will explore in the near future as a I ramp up :) Always been a fan of WPbakery, tweaking this tutorial and others to find the optimal method :) and a checklist is next on my agenda!

Astra and Gutenberg is a great combination after you start using it with Elementor and Woocommerce it is harder to make the web site fast as you want, of course, you will need better hosting resources, but I prefer Gutenberg even with Woocommerce.
